Revelation Pets alternative: Boardinn vs Revelation Pets
Revelation Pets is the cheaper and broader small-business system: daycare, cattery, grooming, training, payments with deposits, QuickBooks and Xero, from $60 or £50 a month. Boardinn's case is a booking site on your own domain and an EU-hosted installation per hotel.

Where your data lives
Boardinn aheadBoardinnEach hotel is an isolated installation with its own database, hosted in the EU (Helsinki, backups in Paris). We run a customer's data export or erasure when the hotel asks.
Revelation PetsIts FAQ says it is GDPR compliant and independently audited every three months; its privacy policy says information may be stored and processed in the U.S. You can export customer and pet data before closing an account.
Vaccination records
EvenBoardinnOwners add vaccination and deworming dates and upload certificates on their pet's profile; email reminders go out under your hotel's name to owners who opt in.
Revelation PetsCustomers upload vaccine records through the portal; the system tracks expiry dates and sends automatic reminders before they lapse.
Who each product is for
Revelation Pets is built for small pet-care businesses that do a bit of everything. Its own pages are organised by business type, cattery, daycare, grooming and kennel, and the feature list follows: daycare credit packages that customers buy online, staff calendars for grooming, training and van drivers, digital agreements, a waitlist, and reports for occupancy, sales, feedings and vaccinations. Payments are part of the product rather than an add-on, deposits included, and invoices flow into QuickBooks or Xero. It says it has 3,000 customers in 32 countries, and it belongs to the same family as Gingr, which serves larger facilities (we’ve compared Boardinn with Gingr too).
Boardinn is narrower and younger. It’s built around the boarding stay: owners book online against your real kennel count, staff run the day from one board of arrivals, pets in care and departures, services get ticked off as they’re done, and the invoice adds itself up from what was delivered. And it runs as your own installation rather than an account on a shared platform.
What “your own domain” means here
Revelation Pets gives you an online booker that you install on the website you already have and brand with your logo, plus a customer portal where owners check availability, book, pay and upload vaccine records. For a kennel with a website it’s happy with, that’s a sensible split: your site stays as it is and the booker does the booking. Whether the portal itself can run on your own domain isn’t covered on the pages we checked.
With Boardinn the booking site is the website. It runs on your own domain, with HTTPS set up and renewed automatically, in one of five designs using your colours and fonts. The only Boardinn mention is a small footer link, and you can switch it off. Reminder emails come from your name, invoices go out as a PDF under your brand, and links and reviews build up on your domain. We’ve set out the reasoning for that separately.
Where your data lives
This matters more than usual for a UK or European kennel. Revelation Pets answers the GDPR question in its FAQ with a yes, says it uses enterprise-level security and is independently audited every three months, and lets you export your customer and pet data before you leave. Its privacy policy also says the company is based in the U.S. and that information may be transferred to, stored and processed there, with a supplemental notice for EU, UK and Swiss residents.
Boardinn’s answer is in how it’s built: each hotel is a separate installation with its own database, hosted in the EU, with backups in the EU too, and we export or erase a customer’s data when the hotel asks. Neither answer is wrong. If your customers’ data staying in Europe is a requirement rather than a preference, that’s the row to weigh.
Where Boardinn is behind
On features and price, Revelation Pets is ahead, and it’s worth saying plainly. It takes card payments and deposits today, online and on a terminal; Boardinn’s online payments are still on the roadmap. It covers daycare, with credit packages, and grooming and training calendars; Boardinn has no daycare. It connects to QuickBooks, Xero and Mailchimp, and Gold plans get an API. And its published plans start at $60 or £50 a month against Boardinn’s $99.
What you get instead is a booking site that’s genuinely yours, kennel management software shaped around a pet hotel’s day, and a small team that sets it up with you, services and prices included. Milo Pet Hotel’s story shows what that looks like.
How we checked
Every claim about Revelation Pets on this page was checked on 22 October 2026 against revelationpets.com: the homepage, the pricing, features, kennel software, cattery software, integrated payments, integrations, FAQ and about pages, and the privacy policy. Where their site doesn’t say something, such as which features each plan includes, language options or whether the portal can use your own domain, we say so rather than guess. Customer quotes on their site aren’t used as evidence. We re-check the page whenever we update the date. If we’ve got something wrong, email hello@boardinn.pet and we’ll fix it.
